In Map
Editor, you can search for and add exiting topics to the map you are editing.
You can also add existing maps as submaps.
The map must be checked out and open in Map
Editor.
Topics are added as a topicref, and submaps are added as a mapref.
To add a topicref or mapref:

Select the location in the map where you want to add the topic or submap.

Do one of the following:
- Right-click and select .
- On the toolbar, click .

In the Insert a DITA Reference dialog, search for the topic or map that you want.
You can click on the titles of topics and maps to see a preview of
them.
You can only add maps and topics that are in the same Branch as the map you are editing.
This includes library Branches linked to this Branch.

To select and insert the topic or map, do one of the
following:
- While in the Topic
Preview, click Insert.
- To add the topic or map without previewing it, click the radio button
for it and then click Insert.
A new topicref or mapref is added for the topic or map.
