Why can't I view my topic in oXygen Author mode?

You can perform some troubleshooting to allow topics to open in oXygen Author mode.

Symptom

While using the oXygen XML Editor, you are unable to open your topic using Author mode or there are red CSS errors at the top of the topic.

Problem

The oXygen XML Editor is not configured with the correct DTD or document type to validate and display the topic properly.

Solution

Here are some troubleshooting steps that you can perform:

Configure oXygen XML Editor with the XML catalog.

  1. Click Window > Preferences > oXygen XML Author > XML > XML Catalog.
  2. Verify the root catalog is set.
Configure the Document Type Association.
Note: This procedure will cause loss of preferences for the oXygen Editor.
  1. Click Window > Preferences > oXygen XML Author > Document Type Association.
  2. Make sure that there is a DITA document type listed and that it is checked. If the entry is missing, continue with the next step.
  3. Close the IXIASOFT CCMS Eclipse Client.
  4. In the C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\com.oxygenxml.author directory, remove all content except license.xml.
  5. Start the IXIASOFT CCMS Eclipse Client.
