Import a localized map or topic

After files return from translation, they must be imported back into the system.

The returned localization file must be unzipped and located on your hard drive.

It's a good idea to import your localized images first and make sure that they all have the review status. If you have done this, then when you import the localized map or topic, the system will automatically set the status of these files to Localization:review/Localization:translated or its equivalent in your workflow.

If, on the other hand, some of the images referenced by the topics still have Localization:in translation status (or its equivalent in your workflow), then the system will keep these imported topics (and their map) at this status too, and you'll have to promote them all manually at some point in the future.  
Note: It is possible to have the IXIASOFT CCMS handle most of the complex operations by using a combination of specific status configuration and triggers. For example, your system could be configured to behave as follows:

  • During the import process, the system checks the status of the image files referenced by the topics. If any of these images still have Localization:in translation status, then the referring topics (and consequently the map) are assigned the status Localization:awaiting images.

  • These topics will stay at this status until their translated images are imported into the system. At this time the CMS will automatically promote the topics to Localization:translated status. When all images have been returned and all topics have been promoted to the translated state you’ll be able to promote the map to Localization:translated as well.

  1. Do one of the following:
    • On the Localization toolbar, click the Import Localized Content button ().
    • From the menu bar, select IXIASOFT CCMS > Import Localization Package.
    The Import Localization Package dialog appears.
  2. You have two options:
    • To import all the files in a folder, click the Add Folder button, navigate to the folder that contains the localized files, and click OK.
    • To import one or more localized files:
      1. Click the Set Files button.
      2. Navigate to the localized files.
      3. In the bottom-right area of the Open dialog, select the type of files to import (for example, XLIFF document, XML document, etc.).

        The files are displayed in the dialog.

      4. Select the files to import and click Open.
    Tip: You can configure a default directory where the Import Localization Package dialog will open automatically.

  3. Click Import.
The files are imported and given the status Localization:review (or its equivalent in your workflow).

You can now complete the localization process by reviewing the localized files and approving them or returning them to localization.
