Understanding Content Level Security
The Need for Content Level Security
For certain businesses, there is information that should not be shared or be editable between divisions. There are two key scenarios corresponding to different levels of access:
- Completely confidential content: Content can be accessed only from some business units. Other units aren't aware the content exists.
- Safety Reuse: A business unit can share content to other business units but only in read-only mode.
These scenarios are where Content Level Security (CLS), comes in, making it possible for users of to set security levels of content in relation to groups within the IXIASOFT CCMS.
Understanding Security Levels in CLS
CLS operates using a hierarchy of security levels, ranging from the most-permissive/open to the most-restrictive/closed. The content security levels, from most-permissive to most-restrive are:
- Read & Write: Content is viewable and editable
- Read-only: Content is viewable, but cannot be edited
- Invisible: Content is not visible
Security levels for content are set according to Groups that have already been defined within TEXTML, either by an Administrator or an Information Architect. The details of this process can be found in the IXIASOFT CCMS Administration Guide for v5.0.
